Cat has expanded its equipment range with a new Stage V compliant material handler.

The Cat MH3026 is designed for waste and scrap metal applications.

Part of the company’s Next Generation product line, the MH3026 weighs 29.2 tonnes and is fitted with a Cat C7.1 engine.

The Stage V engine, which is said to lower fuel usage by 10%, can be run on up to B20 biodiesel and incorporates a maintenance-free aftertreatment system.

Cat said, “The choice between Power and Economy modes fine-tunes power requirements to the task at hand, offering up to 10% lower fuel usage than previous models without sacrificing machine performance.”

The model includes new front linkages that give it a reach of up to 13m and a Heavy Lift mode with Cat’s SmartBoom feature that “allows the operator to focus on grapple control and have a smoother, more fuel efficient, cycle”.

“The advanced electrohydraulic system optimizes the balance of power and efficiency, improving cycle times to handle more material in the same amount of time, improving profit potential,” added Cat.

Offering 20% more swing torque, the MH3026 can move more material at a faster rate than Cat’s previous MH3026F model.

Inside its Next Generation cab, the model is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen display that gives the operator access to the machine’s critical functions.

It is available with joystick steering option that lets operators store their preferred power mode settings and which provides more legroom by removing the steering column.

On the safety front, Cat said, “Now standard technologies on the Cat MH3026 material handler elevate operating protection.

“E-fence prevents the machine from moving outside operator defined parameters while Cab Avoidance helps the operator by preventing contact between the attachment and cab.

“By requiring a PIN code to start the engine, the new Operator ID inhibits the machine from unauthorized operation.”

The MH3026’s Next Generation cab is also fitted with tempered glass windows with small pillars and is equipped with right-side and rearview cameras with a video display inside the cab for improved visibility.
