Foundations for a sustainable flame

Work begins on energy efficient Dubai Towers.
Foundation work for the Dubai Towers in Dubai has started. The concept for the towers comes from candlelight, and the completed structures will feature sustainable energy systems such as a 3 kW aero turbine, 315 PV panels to harvest 50 kW of solar power, under floor air distribution and a design that reduces solar heat gain by up to +31%. “We used parametric modeling to cut design time by +50%, a system that also enabled us to conduct quick and accurate studies of the exterior shape options, structural systems and shapes for interior atriums,” said lead concept designer Behr Champana of TVS International.
