The UK’s Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) is making new funding available to help the drive towards achieving the UK government’s stated target of halving the amount of C&D waste that goes to landfill by 2012. The intention is to stimulate investment in additional recycling capacity to turn more waste materials into re-usable material for reprocessors.

The programme will cover recycling facilities in England only, will operate on a rolling basis and any projects going for funding must be fully operational by the end of March, 2011. Grants up to £150,000 and not exceeding 50% of the total eligible cost of the project will be available from April. Examples of projects that could be covered by the funding include plant, equipment and infrastructure projects. WRAP has not issued a closing date for applications, but available funding is finite (although the size of the fund was not disclosed) and is available on a first come first served basis
