Groundforce, the rental division of VP plc that rents hydraulic struts and other specialist shoring equipment, is expanding its presence in mainland Europe with a distribution agreement with Italian pump and dewatering company Interwell.

Interwell, based in Venice, will offer Groundforce’s range of hydraulic excavation support equipment and associated products to its clients in Italy. The company, founded in 1962, rents and sells pumps and dewatering systems for major construction and excavation projects.

The agreement sees Groundforce expand its operations in Europe. Although based in the UK, it has undertaken contracts in Germany, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden in the past few years, and most recently in Italy.

Sam Oldroyd, European sales manager for Groundforce, said; “Following our success across Northern Europe we were keen to expand into Southern Europe, and having already supplied Interwell with our equipment on a number of major projects, both parties were keen to put in place a more permanent agreement.”

Groundforce said the move to Italy was part of a growing interest in its hydraulic struts - which are an alternative to traditional steel frame bracing systems - as contractors “increasingly look for cost effective excavation support solutions…These contractors have been quick to realise the cost savings associated with using modular hydraulic shoring systems over more traditional methods.”
