Global platform manufacturer Haulotte Group has acquired a 50% stake in the sales business of Turkish platform specialist Acarlar Makine.

At the same time, Acalar Makine will separate out its rental activities - it currently operates a fleet of 500 units - and create a new company purely for rental.

Acarlar Makine has operated as Haulotte’s dealer in Turkey for many years and has been active in the access sector for 10 years. Together, the firms aim to strengthen and consolidate their sales and distribution services in the area.

The Turkish company said the deal would help it retain its leadership position in the sector; "The emphasis placed on occupational safety is gradually increasing in Turkey and we are becoming more aware of the benefits of using platforms, which is an indicator that the sector will be in a quite outstanding position in the future."

Details of the agreement were disclosed at a press meeting in early July at Acarlar's Istanbul office attended by Serkan Acar, General Manager of Acarlar Makine, Sebastien Martineaf, CFO of Haulotte Group and Arthur Danelian, Middle East Regional Manager of Haulotte Group.

In addition to representing Haulotte, Acarlar Makine also sells Omme lifts, H.A.B. scissors, Teupen lifts, Ruthmann truck mounted platforms and Unic mini cranes.
