HERC adds new Saudi rental depot

Hertz Equipment Rental Corp (HERC) has expanded its Saudi Arabian operation, Hertz Dayim Equipment Rental, with the opening of a greenfield location in the capital, Riyadh.
Hertz Dayim Equipment Rental – a joint venture between HERC and Dayim Systems that opened in the country three years ago – already has depots in Dammam and Jeddah, in the country’s eastern and western provinces.
The company said the new Riyadh operation was located on the Khurais highway, to the east of the city, and featured a 7000m2 yard, shop and branch office.
It said earthmoving, aerial, material handling, power, electrical, and compressor equipment from manufacturers including Atlas Copco, Case, Doosan, Genie, Himoinsa, Ingersoll Rand, JCB, JLG, Miller, and Wacker Neuson would be available – from backhoes to skid steers, manlifts, telescopic handlers, fork lifts, compressors, lighting towers and generators.
HERC said the Riyadh business would target infrastructure, commercial, government, military, construction, event services, and industrial sectors in the central province. It said it would rent and sell equipment and tools, as well as provide fleet management services and training.
Hertz Dayim Equipment Rental is already a registered vendor with contractors for the US$ 22 billion Riyadh Metro project, a six line, 85 station underground development being built over five years.
Rapid growth
HERC president Lois Boyd said the business was continuing its rapid growth across Saudi Arabia. “The central province is considered a strong market opportunity due to massive spending on large-scale urban infrastructure projects.
“This includes the Riyadh Metro project as well as multi-billion dollar initiatives for the financial district, medical cities, commercial centres and highways and bridges. Our aim is to provide first class, value-added equipment rental solutions to customers in the region."
And chairman of Hertz-Dayim Equipment Rental, HRH Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan, said further growth was planned.
“We also plan to continue our expansion and open smaller regional centres in Saudi Arabia to complete our nationwide presence, and move closer to our vision to become the number one equipment rental company of Saudi Arabia,” he explained.
HERC is owned by US-based car rental group Hertz Corp. Earlier this year, Hertz Corp outlined plans to spin-off HERC in a US$ 2.5 billion deal that is expected to close in early 2015.
