Hertz plans 10 new depots in 2010

19 February 2010

Hertz Corp said it will open 10 new equipment rental locations during 2010 to tap into markets emerging from recession and to support key industries such as petro-chemicals.

"We're optimistic that the economy will continue to stabilize in 2010," said Mark Frissora, chairman and chief executive officer for Hertz Corp. "With these strategic openings, in both the car and equipment rental markets, our goal is to be properly positioned so that we will be able to capitalize upon these key markets once the economy begins to rebound."

In addition to the depot openings and geographical expansion - Hertz Equipment Rental Corp (HERC) has established two rental locations in China and just signed a joint venture deal in the Middle East - the company is also expanding its services.

In select locations, equipment rental customers will now be able to rent cars and trucks as well as equipment from the same location through ‘Hertz Local Edition'. HERC said the programme exploited obvious synergies, but it was also the catalyst for launching Hertz Entertainment Services, a division dedicated to the special vehicles and equipment needs of the film and entertainment industries.

Entertainment Services is one of several special divisions operated by HERC, with others including Hertz Energy Services for power, Hertz Plant Services for large industrial clients, Hertz Service Pump and Hertz Aerial.

Hertz Corp will report its 4th quarter results on Wednesday 24 February.
