Hewden's Sherlock replaced by Finning (UK) finance director

Hewden's managing director Brian Sherlock left the company on 4 July and been replaced by Doug Sprout, previously finance director of Finning (UK).

Hewden did not comment on the reasons for the departure in its announcement and no-one was available to comment further at the time of writing. Mr Sherlock was appointed director of Hewden in 2005, having joined the business as managing director of Hewden Hire Centres in 2002. The Hire Centres business was sold to Speedy Hire last year.

Andy Fraser, managing director of Finning Group UK, said; "Brian has made a substantial contribution both to Hewden and to the Finning Group. He led the company through the reshaping of the Hewden business, the implementation of a new ERP system and leaves a legacy of a strong team committed to customer service and the ongoing development of our people."

Mr Sprout joined Finning in 1980 and during his career with the company has held a number of senior executive positions in operations and support services, as well as finance, in Canada, South America and the UK.
