The six-lane Autopista Central is one of the main highway projects currently under construction in Santiago, Chile. It is being financed by the Norte Sur S.A. joint venture (Dragados y Construcciones S.A. (Spain), Skanska (Sweden), Belfi S.A. and Brotec S.A. (Chile.

An “advanced free-flow toll system”, with an initial investment of US$ 450 million, it extends from the Maipo River in the south to Americo Vespucio Avenue in Quilicura in the North, going through ten suburbs of Santiago. The work includes the construction of bridges, links, footbridges, 80 km of service roads and 845000 m2 of green areas. The Costanera 2 Overpass, which has a 1 m thick, 3580 tonne slab that varies in height from 7 to 10 m, has an area of 1431 m2. For shoring and pouring of the slab the JV used EFCO's E-Z Deck system because of its load capacity and versatility to adapt to the slabs dimensions.
