Huisman wins multiple crane contracts

Lifting, drilling and subsea solutions specialiat Huisman has secured a contract for six offshore cranes from COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard in China.
The order includes four custom-made 400 tonne capacity rope luffing knuckle boom cranes and two 100 tonne capacity knuckle boom cranes. The cranes will be installed on four new subsea support vessels (SSV) for marine service provider Maersk Supply Service.

The active heave compensated (AHC) cranes offer a low overall construction weight, high lifting height and large capacity at outreach, the manufacturer said. The main hoisting system comprises a traction and storage winch system and a separate heave compensation system, allowing lifting, lowering and heave compensation to be performed simultaneously.
Huisman’s sister company SMST will deliver the two 100 tonne capacity models. The components for the four rope luffing knuckle boom cranes will be built at the Huisman facilities in China, the Netherlands and also in the Czech Republic.
The first vessels are scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2016.
