Korean firms Hyundai Robotics and Hyundai Engineering & Construction have formed a joint venture partnership to develop construction robotics technology.

Within their Memorandum of Understanding, the two companies aim to jointly further the development of robots that could potentially work on construction sites.

In the short-term, the firms say the robotics technology being developed could be used in the anchoring of drilling holes, painting, welding and bricklaying.

The two companies will also work on the development of software to advance the use of autonomous construction machines.

The companies say they will establish a joint research and development system, aimed at demonstrating and commercialising the technology, and will continue to upgrade robots for manufacturing and logistics, as well as for construction.
