Employees of IHI Construction Machinery in Japan pose with the 300th unit built for Terex Cranes before shipping it to the US. The HC 110 lattice crawler was for delivery to RTL Equipment in Iowa. Representatives from Terex Cranes and IHI Construction Machinery Limited gathered at an event in Tokyo to celebrate the milestone. The IHI-Terex relationship can be traced back to 1952 when Koehring and Ishiakawajima Heavy Industries established the Ishiakawajima Koehring Company partnership, which lasted until 1977. Ten years later Koehring was acquired by Terex and the relationship came full circle when the agreement for Terex to buy crawler cranes from IHI saw the first machine, a prototype HC 80, delivered in 1999 for display at the ConExpo show. In 2000 the HC 110 was added to the product line and 2001 saw the introduction of the HC 50, HC 60 and HC 275. In late 2003 the HC 165 was introduced to the North American market. Terex Cranes is working with IHI on the development of a new model with a lifting capacity between the HC 165 and the HC 275.
