Manchester Cabins in the UK worked with supplier Hiab to produce a solution to its need for fast, accurate, safe and reliable equipment to install heavy and cumbersome objects in demanding environments. The result is two Hiab remote controlled hydraulic loader cranes installed on a single Volvo FM12 truck chassis. Hiab used a model 800EP-4 with a lift capacity of 5800 kg (12760 lb) at 12.3 m 40 feet) and a model 122.5 rated 110 kNm and with a maximum outreach of 15.1 m (49.5 ft). A specially designed subframe allows lifts on the full 360°circumference. The new vehicle, which Hiab says is the first of its type in the world, allows Manchester Cabins to use a single vehicle and one operator (using remote control), where previously two separate cranes with their own operators would have been needed.
