International Construction’s January-February podcast

By Chris Sleight31 January 2014

In this month’s podcast iC editor Chris Sleight and deputy editor Helen Wright discuss the latest news on cost overruns on the Panama Canal expansion project, where the contractor and client are negotiating over who should foot the US$ 1.6 billion bill.

In business, Volvo’s acquisition of Terex’s hauler business is under the microscope, and the implications for both companies are discussed.

Features this month include a look at the Chinese construction market, where growth is strong, but down from the break-neck pace of the 2000s. In terms of equipment, we look at the compact machinery sector, where new engine emission laws are driving product introductions in the compact loader sector in particular.

New engine emission laws are also a driver for the new machine’s being launched at the March ConExpo-Con/Agg exhibition in Las Vegas, US, and we look ahead to this show in the podcast.
