Isolde Liebherr, vice president of the Supervisory Board of Liebherr International AG, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the National University of Ireland in Cork.

Liebherr was presented with the Doctorate in recognition of her achievements and successes in continuing the legacy of her father, Hans Liebherr, after he died in 1993. Liebherr and her brother Willi Liebherr have led Liebherr since then, tripling the size of the globally operating family business.

Isolde Liebherr has maintained close ties with Ireland for many years, particularly with the region of Killarney, where she was also presented with the freedom of the town in May 2012.

Liebherr has also lent her support to local charities, including the Kerry Parents and Friends Association, which provides support for disabled people and their families.

The Liebherr Group has had a presence in Ireland since 1958 and employs more than 700 people in three companies operating in the fields of maritime cranes, construction machines and hotels.
