Netherlands-based heavy lift shipping and offshore installation company Jumbo used its DP2 heavy lift vessel Jumbo Javelin for the installation of the first transition pieces (TP) for the Anholt Offshore Wind Farm in Denmark.

The first nine TPs were loaded in Aalborg, Denmark before being transported to the offshore location. There, Jumbo Javelin positioned itself usinf uts ultra-deepwater (DP) system and lifted the TPs onto the pre-installed monopiles. After levelling the TPs to their final position, grouting began.

The Jumbo Javelin is able to carry nine TPs at a time, each weighing up to 200 tonnes, stowed vertically in the hold of the vessel. The ship is free floating and uses its DP2 system to create a stable working environment in which TPs can be installed.

Anholt Offshore Wind Farm is being built by Dong Energy. Jumbo is working for the Danish contractor MT Højgaard, which is in charge of installation of the foundations.
