The construction of a new bridge presents a range of unique access challenges and the Yuan Da Expressway, Longchuan River Bridge project in China is no exception.

To meet these rigorous demands, the build project team chose to install an Alimak Levato 650 construction hoist on the 100m-high bridge’s main pillar.

Bridge construction presents a unique logistical challenge, especially when transporting bulky materials to elevated work zones. Maintaining a strict project schedule is crucial to avoid delays, and the challenging site conditions demand equipment that can withstand harsh environments, said Alimak. Above all, worker safety remains paramount, necessitating a vertical transportation solution that can enhance safety and streamline site operations.

To address these challenges, the Levato 650 construction hoist allows for a spacious 3.9m cage, to suit the project’s specific needs. With a robust payload capacity of 3,000kg, the unit is suited to efficiently transport large, heavy loads. Its lifting speed of up to 60m/min, enables rapid access to the 70m working height, helping the team meet tight deadlines.

The hoist’s durable design allows for thre required optimal performance in harsh site conditions, said the company, while the improved car door design simplified installation and minimised setup time. Powered by Alimak’s advanced ALC III intelligent control system, the Levato 650 automatically selects the most efficient operational mode, reducing wait times and boosting productivity on site.
