Two Liebherr 280 EC-B flat top cranes have been put to work on a Singapore public housing development in the Jurong Lake District of Singapore.

The main contractor for the new S$88 million (US$ 63 million) housing development is Sim Lian Group. The Jurong West Spring Haven project, which is developed by the Housing and Development Board, is made up of five 20-storey blocks of residential buildings, a multi-storey car park and other communal facilities.

The 280 EC-B has a capacity of 12 tonnes and maximum radius is 75 metres. Local working height restrictions mean that the cranes have been configured to a height of 68 m.

Ho Lee Machinery Pte Ltd, a Singaporean rental specialist, provided the crane’s rigging support. Desmond Lee, Ho Lee planning and safety manager, said, “Much of the construction is precast concrete, supplied by precast specialist, Poh Cheong, which means heavy lifting duties for the cranes.

“The Liebherr 285 EC-B 12s are ideal for these construction elements, and have the advantage of fast and easy erecting and dismantling,” Lee added.

The development is due for completion in 2016.
