Konecranes for Mexican port

Mexican terminal operator Grupo CICE (Corporación Integral de Comercio Exterior S.A. de C.V.) has ordered an eco-efficient Generation 6 Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor crane for their terminal in the Port of Veracruz on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico.

The crane will be delivered in April 2022

This is the first order for the generation 6 type for CICE, but it will be their 10th Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour crane.

The new crane has a working radius of up to 61 metres and a lifting capacity of 125 tonnes. It features a tower extension for reaching higher container stacks on deck and a better view of the vessels and working environment. It has an A7 classification in container handling.

The order was booked in December 2021 and the crane will be delivered in April 2022.

“We are expecting larger vessels to call at our terminal in the Port of Veracruz, so we needed to invest in a larger crane. We have operated nine Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes over the last 20 years, and have been very satisfied with their performance and reliability. Konecranes Gottwald was the first choice. This new Generation 6 crane promises even more handling capacity and service life,” said Leoncio Perez, CEO at Grupo CICE.

The Port of Veracruz is the oldest and largest port in Mexico and includes CICE’s largest facility. The company intends to expand the terminal’s capacity and upgrade its equipment that can handles general and project cargo.
