On the 3530 m2 (38000 ft2) booth are 14 cranes, including three new ones and several making their first appearance in the US. In addition to the lifting equipment visitors can learn about the CraneCare after-sales division, and CraneCredit, for financing. There will also be a crane training simulator where visitors can test their skills.

Star of the MCG stand is the new 400 tonne (440 US ton), Model 16000 crawler. It fills a gap in the range between the 300 US ton 2250 and the 750 US ton 18000. Standard main boom on the 16000 is 30 m (98 ft and between 24 m and 84 m (78 ft and 275 ft) of luffing jib can be fitted to give a maximum combination of 132 m (433 ft).

Wind turbine installation is a target application for the 16000 and a specially designed detachable upper boom point, with a capacity of 90 tonnes (99 tons) is available for this.

Making its first public appearance is the Model 12000, although machines are already at work in the US. The 109 tonner (120 ton) is the largest of the six models in the manufacturing alliance with Kobelco.

New and on show from Grove is the GMK5130-1 (GMK5165 in the US) all-terrain (see IC January 05 News, page 9 and this issue Equipment matters). One of the main features of the new crane is its 60 m (197 ft) six-section main boom with Megaform profile and Twin-Lock pinning system.

On display from the RT range is the 68 tonne (75 ton) RT875E with four-section full-power 39 m (128 ft) boom. There is also an offsetable lattice swingaway extension that can add up to 17 m (56 ft) and give a maximum tip height of 70.6 m (232 ft).

Potain is celebrating the delivery of its 100000th crane at the show, an MDT 178 Topless City crane. Two self-erecting towers are making their North American debut: the 4 tonne, 40 m Igo 50, the largest unit in the Igo line-up; and the 1.8 tonne (3968 lb), 26 m (85.3 ft) Igo MA 21, which is also making its worldwide debut. Maximum tip load is 700 kg (1543 lb). Visitors can also see an HDT 80, which has a maximum load capacity of 6 tonnes (6.6 ton) and a 1.35 tonne (1.5 ton) maximum at its jib end of 45 m (148 ft).

On show from National are three units; the 690E, 9125E, and 18103. The 18 tonne (20 ton) 690E, which is making its first public appearance at a major trade show is the longest in the five model range of Series 600E cranes. The new 9125E, the longest of the four model 900A series, is a long-boom version of the 9103A. The 18103 is the largest in the National range.

Visitors can also see the 18 tonne (20 ton) Y B7720XL YardBoss carry deck crane from the industrial series, a re-launched range of seven models with improved features, new benefits, and a greater choice of models.
