Manitowoc launches mobile service in Chile

Manitowoc Crane Care has launched a new mobile truck service to support crane owners when working in remote locations throughout Chile.

The new Dodge RAM 3500 pickup service trucks will provide maintenance and support for those working in the construction and mining industries in the country, a company spokesperson said. They will carry a range of tools and two technicians.

The trucks will be stationed in the northern city of Antofagasta and in the capital, Santiago. They are fitted with a service crane that has a lifting capacity of 1.4 tonnes and remote control, a company spokesperson added.

Jose Miguel Figueroa, Manitowoc Crane Care director of customer support, said, “We are in a mining region and it is too time-consuming and expensive to transport cranes to a shop. This is a great benefit, especially to those working in demanding mining conditions, because Manitowoc can arrive on site to help replace a part or solve a technical problem in a relatively short time.”

Cristian Galaz, vice president of sales and marketing for Manitowoc in South America, said, “The implementation of this mobile service will allow us to be even more prepared when we assist our clients in the field. The trucks are equipped with all necessary tools to support our partners as well as the highest technology to support our technicians.”
