More Polish motorway work for Strabag

08 March 2016

Strabag, the Austrian-based contractor, has been awarded a further section of the A1 motorway in Poland with a contract worth €108 million.

At the same time, Strabag has merged its wholly-owned subsidiaries Center Communication Systems (CCS) and Strabag Anlagentechnik (SAT).

The Polish contract follows Strabag’s work on the Woźniki–Pyrzowice section of Poland’s A1. It will now build the section between the Zawodzie Junction and Woźniki Junction – a 16.7km road which is expected to be opened to traffic in the second half of 2019.

This section of motorway is part of the A1 going from Gdansk in the north to the Czech border. It forms part of European Route 75.

Besides the concrete roadway, Strabag will also build the Woźniki Junction, as well as bridges and several adjoining local roads.

Strabag’s merger of its two intelligent infrastructure solutions subsidiaries will create a new company, to be called Strabag Infrastructure & Safety Solutions. The managing directors are Gerhard Jelinek and Werner Kribernegg.

They said, “With the merger of our activities in traffic safety technology, tunnel equipment and communications technology, we are making better use of the strong synergies that exist between these two business fields.

“As a provider of complete solutions for intelligent infrastructure, we are in a position to offer an extensive range of services from a single source – from train radio, video surveillance and passenger information systems to answering point technology to traffic and tunnel technology.”
