Netherlands-based crane provider Multi-Crane International has purchased a new Potain MDT 308 A tower crane to help the company meet increased demand for high lifting capacity cranes, the company said.
The MDT 308 A is a top slewing model with a maximum jib of 70 metres. It lifts 12 tonnes and has SmartCom, an electronic control system that provides the operator and service technician with information that includes how long the crane was operated for, how long the hoisting, trolley, winches and slewing mechanism were operated for as well as the number of brake applications for those three mechanisms.

Dispatched in January to Multi-Crane, the MDT 308 A is now at a construction site of a six-storey apartment complex in Amsterdam, lifting building materials weighing 7 tonnes using a 40 m jib.

“We already have lots of Potain cranes in our fleet and have always been extremely satisfied with their consistent performance and reliability,” said Ralph Breijer, director of Multi-Crane. “We selected this crane because it offers excellent lifting capacity and is easy to set-up and dismantle. The crane’s strong load chart and large flat top meet our rental fleet requirements and will contribute to the successful build of the new apartment complex.”
