Ms Marzia Giusto, general manager of Italian access rental company Nacanco, has been elected as the new president of Assonolo, the Italian rental association. She was appointed at the association's annual meeting in Bologna in March and will hold the post for two years.

Ms Giusto has been working in the rental business with Nacanco for 10 years and has been a member of Assodimi's executive board for the past three years.

"The first task of Assonolo is to provide total support to its rental company members to try to make their role in an open market more professional", said Ms Giusto, "[It is a market] in which price is the [key battleground] at all times, to the detriment of service values and machines quality".

She said one of her priorities was the establishment of an infrastructure to provide independent verification and inspection services for periodical inspections of machines.

In addition, Ms Giusto wants professional rental companies to get recognition in the market; "We have not yet had the recognition that we deserve for our organizational and management efforts and for the [level] of our service. Those who work to high standards and have large fleets, have to get more recognition from the market and Assonolo will do its best through an awareness campaign".
