New Stage 5 engines from JCB Power Systems

JCB Power System’s new 448 diesel engine range covers and output range of 81 to 129 kW (108 to 173 hp) and are suitable for mobile and stationary applications.

JCB Power Systems has launched a new range of EU Stage 5-compliant engines to power OEM equipment.

Designed for off-highway applications in both mobile and stationary industrial equipment and generators, the new 448 engines are available in four power nodes from 81 to 129 kW (108 to 173 hp) with peak torque outputs from 516 to 690 Nm (380 to 509 lb. ft.).

Building on the successful transition to Stage 5 power in the under 56 kW range with its 430 engine, the new higher-powered 448 diesels offer the same efficient performance with a simple, flexible aftertreatment solution and common customer connection points to enable easy integration with a wide range of OEM equipment designs, JCB Power Systems said.

The engine packages have been engineered to be as small as possible while featuring engine mounted aftertreatment – which comprises a diesel oxidation catalyst with a selective catalytic reduction urea injection system for NOx reduction as standard - to simplify engine integration. Exhaust aftertreatment can also be supplied loose for custom installations where height limitations call for an alternative to the engine-mounted arrangement, JCB Power Systems said.

“Driven by legislation, the market for innovative and customer focused solutions is constantly evolving and with the introduction of these latest additions to the JCB Power Systems range, we and our customers will remain at the forefront of developments,” said JCB Power Systems OEM Engine Sales and Applications Manager Daniel Jackson. “Not only have we introduced a high performance, ultra-efficient and low emissions engine solution, but we have done so in a way that makes life much easier for our OEM customers. Making integration with their equipment as seamless as possible and providing full support before, during and after manufacture.”

JCB Power Systems said the development of the new 448 engines will enable it to continue to support new and existing customers in off highway applications across the Stage 5-emissionized markets and then further territories as emissions legislation evolves.

The new Stage 5 range builds upon its 448 JCB engine predecessor, which the company said has been proven in OEM installations across Europe, North American and the global market. Efficiency is the key focus and the new models are designed to deliver low fuel consumption, thus lowering CO2 and other exhaust emissions.

JCB Power Systems said that in the design of its latest engines it has strived to minimize the engineering efforts to install and integrate its OEM solutions. Offered as ‘plug and play’ options, all incorporate complete wiring solutions, mounted aftertreatment and induction systems and three connections between the engine and DEF tank module.
