Zoomlion is launching a new dealership network across Europe. The Chinese manufacturer's UK dealer Crowland is at the centre of the plans and has already become the only service centre in Europe to offer comprehensive spare parts.

Peter Isitt, Crowland managing director, said it had set up a fruitful partnership with the manufacturer to ensure imports met with western European standards. More active dealers offering such service will follow in the continent.

Up until now, problems have arisen from dealers selling unmodified Chinese cranes into the European market with little or no after service and maintenance care, explained Issitt.

The work Crowland has done with the Zoomlion QUY 70 crawler crane and QY70V truck crane, both with 70 tonne lifting capacities and the CE mark, means that the UK dealer now has to spend less then 100 hours modifying the machine, rather than the 300 hours following previous deliveries.

This, said Issitt, has let to enquiries from Zoomlion crane owning companies as far afield as South America, eager to take advantage of Craowland's knowledge.

William Chen, Zoomlion overseas marketing manager, said there had already been some 40 QUY 70 sales across Europe. The QY 70V has seen 17 sales in the continent. He added that these new service-led dealers would have a marked impact on sales, especially when the economic situation improves.
