Danish shipping, transport and logistics provider, A. Henriksen Shipping A/S, has signed a contract for a new multi-purpose LHM 550 mobile harbour crane from Liebherr.

The LHM 550 will primarily be used to lift steel slabs with a total weight of up to 61 tonnes each. However, with a maximum lifting capacity of up to 144 tonnes, the new machine will be also used for heavy lift/project cargo operations, although it is suitable for a wide range of other applications including: container handling; scrap handling; bulk handling; and general cargo operations.

A. Henriksen Shipping A/S currently loads and discharges around 400 ships per year and Liebherr says this addition to the shipping specialist's existing fleet of cranes will help it boost its terminal productivity. Features of the LHM 550 that will help realise this include: an outreach of 54 metres; a lifting height of up to 45 metres; a travel speed of up to 5km/h; and a bulk material handling capacity of 1,500 tonnes per hour.

The two companies have a good working relationship stretching back a decade, when A. Henriksen Shipping A/S bought its first Liebherr crane (an LHM 400).

In addition to the Liebherr LHM 400 and 550 cranes, A. Henriksen Shipping's fleet includes: a container crane; a Sennebogen 870 M mobile crane; a Liebherr A944HD mobile crane; a Kalmar container truck; and a 45 TS Svetruck, amongst others.
