Platform Hire has expanded its rental fleet with the recent purchase of more than 20 Snorkel scissor lifts.

The UK-based independent aerial lift rental company selected Snorkel because its lifts are easy to use and easy to service or repair.

"We particularly like the commonality of the components in the S series electric scissors, as that makes life very easy for our engineers and simplifies our spare parts inventory," said Dave Williams, director of Platform Hire.

Platform Hire purchased the lifts from Snorkel UK, the local distributor for Snorkel. The investment includes 7.6m working height S1930E compact electric scissor lifts; S2632E scissors with 10m working height and S3246E lifts with 11.8m working height.

Platform Hire has also taken a number of S3370BE 12.1m bi-energy compact rough terrain scissor lifts, with dual power sources of a diesel engine and electric motor.

Platform Hire's recent acquisitions follow strong operating results for 2011. The company recently underwent a Management Buy-Out (MBO) and is now owned by its directors, Dave Williams and John Hall.

Since the MBO, the company has gone from strength to strength, at times achieving a fleet utilisation rate of +90%. It has recently moved into a new depot in Droitwich, near Birmingham.
