China: North east China's Liaining Province has announced plans to invest CNY 64.3 billion (US$ 80.3 billion) in port infrastructure over the next five years.

According to Liaoning Provincial Transportation Bureau official Pei Song, the investment will add 147 new berths in its ports with a 320 million tonne capacity. By 2010 the region's ports will have 470 berths with a capacity to handle a throughput of up to 500 million tonnes or 13.66 million twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs).
