Queen’s Birthday Honour for GGR’s Gill

16 June 2015

Gill Riley, the co-founder and managing director of crane and lifting equipment supplier GGR Group, has been awarded an OBE for Services to Construction in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

In the past 20 years, she has transformed the GGR Group from a small, family run company with a £5000 (€7000) budget into a £22 million (€30 million) global business. It now employs more than 100 staff across three depots in the UK.

Ms Riley said: “I am truly honoured and humbled to have been chosen to receive such a prestigious award. It is very exciting to think that the work I have done over the years has had a positive impact on the construction industry as a whole.

“I’m proud that our cranes have helped build and maintain some of the most iconic and prestigious buildings across the UK.

“We’ve truly gone from strength to strength thanks to a fantastic team and a supportive family around me. This is a proud day for the whole of GGR.”

GGR Group supplies UNIC mini cranes, compact pick and carry cranes, and vacuum lifting equipment to customers across the construction industry.

Ms Riley was chosen as Rental Person of the Year at the 2014 ERA/IRN European Rental Awards and also featured prominently in the “Women in Rental” feature in the March 2015 issue of IRN.
