1,000 tonne Sany crane first delivered for Tutt Bryant

Tutt Bryant Equipment in Australia has taken delivery of the country’s first 1,000 tonne capacity SCL10000 crane from Sany.
It is the Chinese manufacturer’s recently released lattice boom wheeled mobile crane. Tutt Bryant erected the crane for testing and commissioning at its yard close to the M1 motorway in Queensland. Assembled with 133 metres of main boom and 12 metre fixed jib, the lattice boom truck crane was being commissioned in Yatala before delivery to its first job on a wind farm.

Commenting on the delivery Sany country manager for Australia, Neo Liu, said, “The arrival of the SCL10000 marks another big step for Sany in proving our capability to produce world-class industry-leading cranes. This model will be important in setting a new benchmark for super heavy lift cranes with the mobility needed for projects such as wind turbine erection.”
Peter Gray, Tutt Bryant national sales and marketing manager, said, “We are extremely pleased to have been able to work closely with Sany to develop this new crane and bring it into Australia, clearing all the compliance hurdles and meeting our customer’s requirements.”
The SCL10000 has a maximum load moment rating of 12,100 tonne-metres. Its maximum boom length is 171 metres, plus 12 metres of fixed jib, in superlift configuration.
Power for the eight axle carrier is from a V8 Mercedes-Benz type 502 V diesel engine. Its ZF automatic transmission offers 12 forward and 2 reverse gears. The crane upper is powered by a Cummins Tier III (Tier IV optional) engine. It is based on the familiar SCC8000A crawler crane upper. “Operators would be familiar with the controls inside the Porsche designed cab,” the company said.
Last August saw the first unit of this new model delivered, to the Beijing Baihua Hengshi Equipment Installation Engineering Co., Ltd in China. It was for the installation of 6.25 MW wind turbines. To erect these larger turbines the SCL10000 in standard wind power configuration has the capacity to hoist 210 tonnes at a radius of 17 metres to a height of 110 metres. In superlift configuration it will lift 171 tonnes at a radius of 30 metres to a height of 170 metres, according to the crane manufacturer.
