Liebherr will deliver six ship-to-shore container cranes to the Jeddah North Container Terminal in Saudi Arabia. The manufacturer has alreday supplied five Super Post Panamax crames to the port

Gulf Stevedoring Contracting Company has ordered six Liebherr Megamax ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes and 10 rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for the Jeddah North Container Terminal in Saudi Arabia.

The STS container cranes have a span of 30 m, waterside outreach of 60 m and a landside backreach of 16 m. Height under spreader is 41 m, while safe working load (SWL) is 65 tonnes under twin lift spreader and 75 tonnes under hookbeam. The Crane drives are DC, with Liebherr Digivert speed control.

The heavy-duty RTG cranes have a 16 wheel configuration and span six containers plus a truck lane. Stack height is one over five containers. SWL is 65 tonnes under twinlift spreader.

The first three STS cranes and five RTGs will be delivered by the end of 2009, says Liebherr Container Cranes. These new cranes will work alongside the five Liebherr Super Post Panamax cranes and 15 previously delivered RTGs.
