Scottish quarry owner renews Terex Trucks link

30 July 2015

Shetland, UK-based civil engineering, construction and plant hire company Garriock Brothers is using a Terex Trucks TA300 articulated hauler to meet demand at its recently opened depot on the mainland in Inverness.

Situated in Lerwick, the company operates six depots throughout the UK and owns a number of quarries in Shetland. With hydro and wind farm projects in the Scottish Highlands prompting a high demand for heavy-hauling trucks, it purchased an additional Terex Truck TA300 for its fleet.

Its relationship with Terex Trucks goes back to 2010, when it bought a TA400 articulated dump truck.

“The TA400 is a great machine, trouble-free and reliable, so we were confident in our first purchase of a 28 tonne capacity TA300 articulated dump truck, back in 2012,” said Garriock Brothers director Michael Broe.

“The TA300 also performs very well and is a great all-rounder – economical and reliable,” added Mr Broe.

“The independent suspension in particular is an excellent feature which is a favourite with the truck drivers. We’re able to let it work away without any hassle which is perfect, and we received excellent back-up and support from local Terex Trucks dealer, TDL Equipment.”

Terex said the TA300 is built for harsh and arduous conditions so performs well in the company’s stone quarry and in the wet, boggy terrain of the peat shifting jobsites. The articulated Terex Truck has now clocked 4000 hours.
