Swedish contractor Skanska has signed a US$ 117 million contract to build the US’s tallest modular building in New York for Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC).

The B2 residential tower at the Atlantic Yards Project in Brooklyn, New York, will be 32-storeys high, or 98 m. Construction will begin before the end of 2012 with completion scheduled for 2014.

As part of the contract, Skanska will subcontract approximately US$ 56 million to a company created together with FCRC, called FC+Skanska Modular, LLC. The new company will fabricate the modular components of the building in a 14,000-m2 factory in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
