Skanska to build US luxury apartments

Skanska USA is investing SEK 940 million (US$ 112 million) in a new multi-family development in Washington DC, US.

The company will build a new 12-storey, 326-unit luxury apartment building, including a restaurant and retail space on the ground floor.

The development will also see Skanska build 54,000m² of office space.

The building is targeting LEED (leadership in energy and environment design) silver certification.

Construction will begin in October 2016 and is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The company will include SEK 640 million (USD 76 million) in its order bookings for the third quarter of 2016.

Skanska has recently won a SEK 1.2 billion (US$ 145.46 million) contract to build a new hospital at the Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, Sweden, while also completing a SEK 2.6 billion (US$ 307 million) deal to build the Mid-Coast Trolley light rail in San Diego, US.
