Skanska has been awarded a £89 million (€112 million) contract by Carillion for mechanical and electrical engineering works for Phase 1 of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment in the UK.

The two-year contract includes mechanical and electrical shell, core and fit-out works for 866 residential apartments.

The apartments are located in two buildings just west of the Power Station and include a large communal basement and podium areas.

Work on the contract is set to begin in September 2014 and scheduled to finish in October 2016.

Carillion was named preferred bidder for the contract in May, and detailed plans were unveiled in December 2013.
