At The Rental Show held in Orlando Florida on 8 to 10 February, UK rental company Speedy plc confirmed an order for Custom Equipment's new 8ft (2.4 m) platform height Hy-Brid scissor lifts.

The order, which was placed with Custom Equipment's UK distributor to r2 Access, is said to be worth a seven figure sum and is for products to work alongside the Hy-Brid 1030 scissors the company bought last year

At the show Custom Equipment was launching the HBS830 scissor which is a 14 ft (4.2 m) working height, self propelled scissor to augment the 10 ft and 14ft platform height machines already in the range.

At 47 in (1.2 m) long the machine is designed to fit into an elevator, has a slide out deck which can accommodate 1100 lb (500kg) and can turn within its own length. An innovative wheel configuration helps keep the turn tight and prevents rucking on carpeted surfaces.

Custom was also showing a new push-around model which weighs 793lb (360 kg) and, which Steve Kissinger, managing director of Custom Equipment expects will be cheaper than competing models.

The machine will be made in the US but Mr Kissinger expects the most interest to come initially from the UK where push-around scissors are most widely accepted and used
