UK working at height conference

24 August 2009

UK organisations the APS (Association for Project Safety), the AIF (Access Industry Forum), and Working Well Together, have joined forces to present a working at height conference - with an associated exhibition and live demonstrations.

The conference takes place at Lingfield Park Racecourse, Surrey, on Monday 28 September 2009. Called, Working at height: Know it all ...think again! It will address the key safety issues facing the construction sector.

Speakers will address a variety of topics, including: an update on guidance relating to scaffolds, SG04:05 by NASC (National Access and Scaffolding Confederation); the planning and management of safety net installations FASET (Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training); fall prevention when using mobile access towers by PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers' and Manufacturers' Association) and staying one step ahead with ladders by the Ladder Association.

Russell Adfield of the Health & Safety Executive will bring delegates up-to-date with recent cases and prosecutions under the Work at Height Regulations.

In addition to the conference, AIF information booths will provide advice and guidance on training and best practice. These will be complemented by external demonstration areas featuring, among other work at height equipment, mobile elevating work platforms and mobile access towers.

A particular highlight will be a demonstration of rope access down the front face of the racecourse grandstand arranged and managed by IRATA (the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association).
