Video has captured the moment that sections of a bridge under construction in Bhagalpur in the state of Bihar, India.

The Aguwani-Sultanganj bridge over the Ganga River collapsed on Sunday (4 June).

It is the second time a section of the bridge has collapsed, after part of it collapsed in a thunderstorm in April 2022.

Construction of the four-lane, 3km-long bridge, costing around ₹ 1,700 (US$207 million) started in 2014 and was originally due to complete in 2019.

The bridge was supposed to have the country’s longest extradosed spans and a high-level observatory offering views of the river.

Local authorities said they would investigate the cause of the collapse.
