World Demolition Summit names first speaker

The first speaker for this year’s World Demolition Summit (WDS) has been confirmed.

Angus Holdsworth, the managing director of United Kingdom-based Andun Engineering Consultants, will be among the line up when the summit takes place on Thursday 12 November at 3pm (UK  time), alongside the World Demolition Awards.You can register free of charge by visiting https://www.demolitionsummit.com/

Angus Holdsworth has been involved in the engineering required for explosive, high reach and top down demolitions 

Angus’s presentation deals with the demolition of the Churchill Way flyover in the centre of Liverpool, United Kingdom, and will include demolition sequencing, propping and temporary works design for the project.

He describes the Churchill Way flyover project as complex with many engineering design challenges and environmental constraints.

Andun Engineering Consultants is an engineering consultancy specialising in demolition, temporary works for demolition, and temporary works for construction.

As managing director, Angus works closely with contractors to develop demolition schemes for technically complex demolition projects. This has included schemes for residential, commercial, industrial, nuclear and rail structures.

He has been involved in the engineering required for explosive demolition, pre-weakening, pull downs, high reach demolition, dismantling, and top down demolition of projects across the United Kingdom and as far afield as New Zealand.

The WDS is now in its 12th year is organised by Demolition & Recycling International in co-operation with the European Demolition Association and the National Demolition Association of the USA. The headline sponsor is Volvo Construction Equipment.

Due to Covid-19, this year’s event will be online. The usual format is a two-day event including a full-day technical conference and evening awards dinner. Amsterdam, Boston, Dublin, London and Miami have all hosted the WDS since the first event in 2009.
