Chinese manufacturer Zoomlion has released details of its new 1,000 tonne capacity crawler crane.

The first QUY1000 is undergoing testing and will be delivered to Shangai Construction Company at the end of 2009. It will be used to help build a nuclear power station. According to Zoomlion, a contract has been signed to produce a second unit.

In standard boom configuration the QUY1000's lifting capacity is 800 tonnes at 7 m radius and maximum boom length is 108 m. With superlift the capacity rises to 1,000 tonnes at 14 m. Maximum boom length is 150 m, while superlift mast length is 40 m. A superlift heavy jib is also available for vessel lifting with a maximum capacity of 650 tonnes at 20 m radius. In this configuration jib length is 18 m.

In basic luffing jib configuration the crane offers 400 tonnes capacity at 14 m and with superlift provides 500 tonnes at 20 m. Luffing jib length ranges from 30 to 90 m, and with superlift ranges from 30 to 102 m. The maximum lifting torque in superlift configuration is 155000 kNm and the maximum lifting height is 195 m.

Features include a security system with nearly 80 sensors to ensure lifting parameters and other safety conditions are met, explains Zoomlion. The machine also has a modular design, meaning it can be erected, "simply, easily and reliably," adds the company. All electric and hydraulic components are from internationally recognised manufacturers, says the company.

Additionally, the fully enclosed variable displacement hydraulic pump has been designed to conserve energy and provide maximum efficiency, says Zoomlion. The crane's control system has integrated CANbus technology and all parts are integrated with the model's image monitoring system.

The main winch's hoist speed is 133 m per minute. Length of the steel cable is 1,600 m and the tension is 230 KN. The auxiliary winch offers a speed of 133 m per minute, while the length of the steel cable is 28 m and its tension is 160 KN.

Slewing speed is one rotation per minute. Travelling speed is 1 km per hour. Overal dimensions of the crane in mm are 5,160x3,540x3,200 (L/W/H). Maximum weight of a single section is 46 m.
