A new hydraulic power pack for truck loader cranes has been designed to include energy saving features.

The RiteSpec Fuel Saver uses a displacement pump to match the flow directly to the engine's power curve, meaning maximum pressure at any particular engine speed corresponds with the available power.

It was produced by UK-based hydraulic solutions company PCM Fluid Power and diesel engine supplier Hatz GB.

A Hatz spokesman said engine power requirements for a variable flow pump can be up to 30% less when compared with a standard fixed flow system. He added: “In addition to the initial cost of saving of having a smaller engine, users of RiteSpec will profit from up to a 50% fuel saving, experience less wear on the engine and gain from an overall cooler, smoother hydraulic performance. The complete unit is more compact and quieter than conventional power packs.”
