Specialist contractor the O’Keefe Group has reinforced its priority of health and safety by launching a What If? campaign that tasks its employees and sub-contractors with managing their own personal wellbeing.

The campaign, which is reflected in a series of specially-commissioned posters, leaflets and electronic signage, highlights the need for all members of staff, and partners and stakeholders, to take personal responsibility for their health and safety.

Visuals feature O’Keefe staff members as “hazard heroes”, using posters which ask the question “What if your hazard card made all the difference?” to make the health and safety message a truly personal one.

This is reflected by an increased vigilance over the use of hazard cards on hazard walks, the development of a hazard awareness app, and sharing regular dashboard statistics.

The launch has already seen the number of “safety moments” rise ten-fold from a couple of hundred a month.

Head of health and safety, Michelle Rice, said: “We have a long-term strategy that is embedded into our business and one of the key cornerstones of our organisation.

“As a team we should always be inspired to work together and practice safety to the highest possible standards. We want to encourage everyone to think safety first – work safely always – and we want to achieve zero hazards so that everyone who works for the O’Keefe Group returns home safely at the end of the day.”

CEO Patrick O’Keefe added: “We want everyone to feel empowered to never accept unsafe behaviour. It is vital that we always think safety first and keep focussed on being healthier and safer at work.”
