ERA Promotion Committee meets online

16 September 2020

The Promotion Committee of the ERA has met online.

During the meeting, on 9 September, Pierre-Yves Rallet, Chairman of the Committee and Marketing and Sales Director at Loxam, and the members of the committee received an update on the Communication Toolkit, developed by ERA following the launch of the European Green Deal, in light of the need to transition to a more sustainable economy.

The Toolkit is made for communicating the sustainable benefits of renting construction equipment and is based on ERA’s Carbon Footprint of Construction Equipment study and the subsequent communications campaign launched by ERA in February this year.

The Committee was also informed of the progress on the ERA equipment CO2 Calculator, being developed by CE Delft and Alias. The goal of this consecutive project is to develop a web-based, easy-to-use CO2 Calculator for construction equipment. Intended users are rental companies, OEMs and contractors. The ERA Equipment CO2 Calculator should be ready by the end of 2020 and will provide insight into the life-cycle environmental impact of equipment, enabling the users to identify environmental ‘hot spots’ and investigate how changes in their use would affect their carbon footprint. Thus, a larger part of the construction sector can become involved in straightforward environmental analyse

Eleven rental companies, five rental associations and four associate members are represented in the Promotion Committee. The mission of the Promotion Committee is to promote the rental concept and to support the growth of rental industry in both mature and developing markets. Since its creation, the Committee has developed several tools to promote the rental business.

The Promotion Committee members will meet again virtually in November.
