City Lifting extends fleet
19 June 2017
London, UK-based crane hire company, City Lifting, has recently taken delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1350-6.1 mobile crane, complete with luffing jib; it is also due to take delivery of a Liebherr LTM 1040-2.1 mobile crane in the near future.
Commenting on its customer’s purchase, Liebherr said the six-axle, 350 tonne LTM 1350-6.1 mobile crane has a 70 m telescopic boom, a 78 m long luffing jib, and a 42 m long fixed jib. A Y-guying system increases the crane’s load capacities when used with the telescopic boom and lattice jibs, added Liebherr. Load capacity is 34.7 tonnes at the 70 m long suspended telescopic boom. The crane has Liebherr’s automatic Telematik telescoping system with a maximum hoist height of 134 m with a maximum radius of 96 m. In addition, Liebherr said the LTM 1350-6.1 is easy to manoeuvre on tight job sites due to its compact design and it has a modern driving cab and crane cab that can tilt backwards.
The second crane that City Lifting will soon take delivery of, the LTM 1040-2.1 mobile crane, is a compact, two-axle crane. Both axles are driven and steerable. Liebherr said this ensures excellent all-terrain capability and manoeuvrability. It has a maximum load capacity of 40 tonnes, delivered by a 35 m long, continuously variable four-section telescopic boom. The telescoping operation can also be performed under load. Pneumatic disc brakes are now fitted as standard on this model, said Liebherr.
Both of City Lifting’s new cranes have been specified with Liebherr’s VarioBase system which the company claims enables higher lifting capacities and a larger working range, even with a maximum support base, with the largest increases made in the operating ranges directly above the supports.
Trevor Jepson, managing director of City Lifting commented, “We have great confidence in Liebherr as its philosophy is to nurture long lasting relationships with its customers. Any problems that we have had, and they have been minimal, have been dealt with effectively and quickly. We are confident that as we go on to invest in future new Liebherr models that the cranes we are buying today will achieve the best resale values.”
