An engineer can send video presentations of their inspections to machine owners

The company, which developed the Audi Cam service for Audi UK, said its Vehicle Vision Service can be used in repair environments, such as workshops, yards and on construction sites, to send equipment managers and owners personalised video presentations of an engineer’s inspections, explaining any work that needs to be carried out. The customer can then review their video and approve any recommended work online.

The intention is to simplify the servicing process and offer greater clarity and transparency in customer relationships by breaking down the barriers between the workshop environment and the customer.

The service can also be used to support customers in the process of buying big-ticket items by providing video presentations of used or new equipment. In this way, it could help rental companies in the selling of used equipment when renewing fleets.

These tools are already being used by an undisclosed heavy equipment distributor in the UK and North America.

Steve Dean, Managing Director of Vehicle Vision, said, “We have been encouraged by positive signals in the heavy equipment sector. We are seeing the same trends as we did within automotive, where customer acceptance to seeing something presented on video has led to a rise in satisfaction and sales. It’s only a matter of time before video becomes a staple of service and sales in the heavy equipment sector.”
