Caterpillar launches Stage V dozer

Cat D7 dozer The D7 dozer is the successor to Cat’s D7E model

Caterpillar has launched a new Stage V dozer as part of its D7 equipment range for the European, Australian and New Zealand markets.

The D7 is the successor to the company’s D7E model. It is fitted with a C9.3B engine with an automatic four-speed transmission that provides 197kW (265hp) of power and 12% more horsepower than the company’s previous dozer model.

With an undercarriage that has been redesigned for high performance, it can also move up to 8% more material per hour than its predecessor and has a 10% higher blade capacity.

Weighing 29.8 tonnes, Cat said the model is also 6% heavier than the D7E and that its “elevated sprocket undercarriage delivers better ride and balance, as well as increased penetration force”.

According to the manufacturer, the model’s redesigned cab offers more space than the cab’s of its D5 and D6/D6 XE models.

Alongside an adjustable seat and control options, the cab is fitted with a 10-inch touchscreen that allows operators to access Cat’s Slope Indicate and Product Link functions.

Cat said the D7 also comes “Remote Control Ready” and includes an external connector that allows dealers to install a plug-and-play roof-mounted remote control unit.
