Two workers died in a crane accident at the construction site of the Arena Corinthians sports stadium, in São Paulo, Brazil, on Wednesday 27 November. A large lattice boom crawler crane went down around lunch time while installing a prefabricated steel section of roof.

Work was stopped on the site of main contractor Odebrecht. The incident may delay delivery of the completed stadium scheduled for 31 December. Arena Corinthians is due to host the first match and five further games in the 2014 football World Cup.
