The MC285CB-3 battery-powered mini cranes were delivered in custom AMC livery with an optional 850 kg searcher hook

UK crane provider AMC, formerly known as A Mini Crane Hire, has taken delivery of six Maeda MC285CB-3 battery-powered mini cranes from UK Maeda distributor Kranlyft UK.

The MC285CB-3 uses a lithium-ion battery that Maeda said provides 9 hours and 30 minutes of continuous crane operation without producing any emissions. The battery can be charged in 3 hours 30 minutes from a 230 Volt AC supply and offers the same crane operating speed as its diesel engined counterpart.

The crane has a lifting capacity of 2.82 tonnes at 1.4 metres, and a maximum working radius of 8.205 metres, at which it can lift 0.15 tonnes. It has a maximum lifting height of 8.7 metres.

Mark Davenport, managing director at AMC, said, “AMC has many years of experience of operating Maeda spider cranes, and they are robust and very reliable. The 285 is the most popular model and we have 15 to 20 units in our fleet, and I was delighted to hear that Maeda was launching an all-electric version. These new units demonstrate our commitment to delivering quality and reliability to our customers, our commitment to growing our business and also our solid commitment to sustainability.”
