Huisman leg encircling crane for Jan De Nul’s Voltaire

Dutch crane manufacturer Huisman has won a contract to supply a high capacity leg-encircling crane for the new offshore installation vessel Voltaire.

With its twin boom lattice design the crane will have a capacity of more than 3,000 tonnes, Huisman said.

The jack up type wind turbine installation vessel owned by the Jan de Nul Group will be built by COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in China. Huisman will build the crane at its yard in Xiamen, China. It is designed to cater for the next generation of offshore turbine more than 270 metres tall and with blades 120 metres long.
